Do I really like my job?
There are plenty of sites over the internet that deal with CVs, interview strategy and getting the job you want. Most don't talk of having time off. That's what this post is about.
Since childhood we are plagued by everyone, parents, teachers, even our own friends, asking:' What do you want to do when you grow up?'. People go to school, college and university, without many breaks to really find out what they want to do. What do you want to do?
When someone is asked that they often don't answer the question. When they say they'll go into law, or become a doctor, or a plumber- whats the motivation? Sometimes its not what they want to do at all, but family pressures, partner pressures, financial pressure, whatever it is- they are pressured into an answer. Normally one they wouldn't have picked if they had had more time to think, experiment with new things and figure out what they really want to do in life.
Although this blog is to do with fattening the wallet, one of its goals is to encourage, where ever possible, financially awareness as well as encourage you to improve not just your finances, but your life. You can save money all your life, but if you are doing a shitty job you don't like ask yourself honestly- whats the point? 20 years of work you don't like and wouldn't force on your kids, or friends you tolerate? Why?
I don't think there is one way to make money, which is in a way the reason I'm writing this blog. There are many ways. One is to find something you are good at. See if there's a business opportunity. Like to garden? Start a business. Like to write? Write a book. Like to chat? Start a local club based on a subject you like (how do you think weightwatchers started? Come off it- they don't always meet just to do exercise you know!). Interested in making money? Sales might be a good job? Whatever it is, try it out.
Alternatively, it is quite sensible and realistic, if you currently enjoy your job and don't want to start a business or go Self-employed, to stick at your job. Work hard, get promoted, get paid. Oh, and keep visiting this site for more tips (sorry, had to.)...
